Wednesday, July 19, and Wednesday, August 2, from 10:30 am till noon
The Narragansett Historical Society is pleased to announce this popular 40-minute presentation, followed by a walking tour of the area, both by our Consulting Historian, Professor Wayne Durfee. These programs are free of charge and are hosted by the University of Rhode Island Office of Marine Programs, and will begin in the URI Coastal Institute Building, 218 South Ferry Road, Narragansett.
We are also pleased to announce the donation of a large oil painting of the South Ferry area ca. 1850, to the Narragansett Historical Society. The painting is by artist Gertrude B. George, painted in the 1960’s, and donated to us by Dorothy Sampaio.
Directions and parking: Take South Ferry Road toward the URI Bay Campus, left onto Tarzwell Road (parking lot is quickly to the right, just before the Coastal Institute building.) For more information, call 874-6211 or visit omp.gao.uri.edu.
